Destiny

I purchased my ticket online tonight for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. My showtime is Friday night at 7:00. It is a movie about Good vs. Evil and the movie toys are cool too. It brings back memories of when I would come home after watching a Star Wars or Star Trek movie on the big screen.
There are three aspects of these movies that have always attracted me to films like these. The special effects, the battle against the dark side, and the fact that they make me feel like a little kid again are the main reasons why I am looking forward to seeing the next installment.
I would like to say that these movies reflect Christianity, but they really don't. They define a type of spirituality that is relative and pantheistic. The Jedi aren't ever called the light side. They are just warned not to succumb to the dark side. Ultimately the movies are about "destiny" for Annakin and Luke. So it should be with me as a Christian. I am predestined to be like Christ along with all other Christians. People who don't stop to consider their destiny will probably do nothing with their lives and therefore create a dark side of their own. It may sound cheesy, but I think its true.
