Habits

Tonight I attended our Church's Spring Revival Meeting #4 (I think). The evangelist brought up four A's of habits. The acquisition of, ability of, accumulation of, and the altering of habits. There are so many things we do habitually that we never think about, but they become so engrained in our behavior they become part of our character. A good example may be how someone who only drinks one shot of tequila may never become an alcoholic as opposed to someone who drinks repeatedly. The repetitive nature of the things we do can encompass our thoughts as well. What we tell ourselves on a regular basis could be completely false, but we believe it to be true because we repeatedly tell ourself that it is true. It is hard to break old habits and becomes even harder as we get older. It isn't easy to start new habits, but it gets easier the longer we do it. With that in mind the main issue is this: are the habits in our lives leading us to Jesus or away from Jesus?
