Cabala (Kabala, Qabala)
I haven't posted anything related to world religions lately, so I thought I would go ahead and say something about Cabala or "Kabala".
Right now Kabala is growing in popularity due to the Hollywood trendsetters like Madonna.
What is "Kabala"?
It is similar to other New Age belief systems. It focuses on finding truth from a collection of sacred writings call the Zohar and the dependence of oral Jewish teaching. It incorporates numerology and astrology as a means of understanding En Sof (Infinite One) and the Sephiroth (10 Spheres of Influence). It has Biblical connections but is not Biblically based. It simply believes that the Zohar is the way to find purpose and salvation in life. Kabala is not any different than any other of its "trendy" new age contemporaries. The serpent in the garden of Eden tempted Adam and Eve to take of the tree because it would make them Gods. The same principle of every new age belief system claims the same thing.
