Darkness Invites
This quote was found in an article at relevantmagazine.com (click on Darkness Invites for full story) about the Minnesota School Shooting. Weise was the shooter.
"Too often, followers of Jesus are pictured as irrelevant to the real hurt in life—our message doesn’t ring true. It clangs like a symbol. Weise found acceptance not with followers of Jesus, but in a Neo-Nazi online chat room, because cultish groups understand that someone has to belong before they believe. "

Unfortunate as it is, often times Christians are more concerned about conformity of behavior and issues of
”who is in” and “who is out”, to simply love a hurting, messy person.
I think we need to make a space for people to be unpleasant, and not particularly holy to be in our lives and churches. No one said the Gospel wouldn’t be hard work, and acceptance can be hard work.
