I've decided to revive this little blog because I want to see if it can be useful. It's been awhile since my last post, but oh well. Blogger kept all my old posts anyway.

The Traits of a True Lover
What are the traits of a true Lover of Jesus?
The Bible says in John 15 that if you love Jesus then you will keep His commandments.
Is this the answer to the question or are there others?
Do we show our love for Jesus by just what we do, or how we feel as well?

Change Of Skin
I just wanted to change the look of the blog to reflect what I always wanted it to be.
I have always wanted this blog to be interesting and worth checking out. Hopefully the new visitors will find it to be so.

SATURDAY NIGHT SUCCESS
I want to thank everyone who made our first "Saturday Night Life" successful. Over 30 people joined us for family games and activities. This was a number large enough to show the need for something like this on a regular basis. Some people were there because they were curious, but many stayed because we provided them with the things necessary for them to have a good time. I look forward to doing it again, and I hope you do too.

Hooked
Something that has been on my mind lately has to deal with attachment. I think that if you really want to find out what you are attached to all you have to do is go camping for a couple of days. It can become painfully obvious that you are attached to the things that you immediately miss.
Being attached to something isn't necessarily bad, but it can be if the response to doing without it can result in harm. Some people take a presciption they are required to be attached to. It is necessary for them to live. Sorry, but I don't think being attached to chocolate, television, or ipods fit into this category.
But what happens when what we are attached to is automatically taken away from us? For some of us it could mean death, but for everyone else it would mean a period of withdrawals. A turbulent time of fighting temptations and emotional chaos. There may even be a certain amount of physical pain from the sudden separation.
I must apply this basic idea to my relationship with God. Is there anything I am so attached to that it would cause me to be angry at God if I were to lose it? Is there anything in my life more important for me to keep than my relationship with Jesus?
I am hooked on too many things that are important to me, but mean nothing to God.

Git-R-Done
I am one who knows the value of thinking things through. It is important to get your ducks in a row anytime you are trying to do anything of great significance to your home, business or church. Recently I have been trying to finish laying ceramic tile on our living room floor.
This job required a some preparation. The floor had to be cleaned thoroughly. Measurements had to be made to find its center. Furniture had to be moved and all the remnants of the carpet before had to be tossed out.
Even though I did all the right things there are no guarantees that it will come out right. I still could end up with crooked tile in certain places. The thinset may end up being thinner in one area than in another. The grout and all the finishing touches may not come out right.
Here's my point. Sometimes as Christians we just have to Git-R-Done. We can't just let ourselves get bogged down in minutia. We know the job that we have to do and we know that we can't plan for every eventuality so we should just go for it. Sometimes we think about it too much and end up talking ourselves out of it.
Now, I am not purposing fast draw shoot from the hip action on everything we do. What I am trying to say is that we have to believe that God will honor our willingness to act even when we don't have all the answers. He sees our faith and acknowledges our obedience. There has to be a balance between us trusting our own knowledge and ability and God's knowledge and ability. In everything we do God is the X factor that makes all the difference and I don't think we should plan Him out!
